Families Matter Postpartum Support Program is committed to assisting women and their families who are experiencing perinatal mood and/or anxiety disorders, including postpartum depression, (ppd) which is said to be the most common complication of childbirth.  14% of mothers will experience ppd, anxiety or intrusive thinking.  Women of all ages, races, or socioeconomic background may be impacted by mood changes either in pregnancy or following the birth or adoption of a child.  PPD may be characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, worrisome repetitive thoughts that may scare you, anger, hopelessness, guilt and sleep difficulties.  Staff at Families Matter provide 1-1 telephone support, weekly support groups, in-home support, and opportunitites to educate family, friends and healthcare providers so that moms and moms-to-be can get the support they require and recover their health and wellbeing.
